Established 1953
Birdie Beach runs for 8km south-east from Wybung Head. It is known as Red Ochre Beach along the northern section in Munmorah State Recreation Area, Birdie Beach for most of its length, and Lakes Beach in the south around the surf club, where it faces due east. The beach is safest between the flags at Lakes Beach, where the waves are lower and rips usually less frequent and less intense.
