Advocacy
As part of his role as Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Ron Delezio has worked with the State Government to develop programs for schools, as well as participating in discussions with the Road Safety Roundtable. The result of these discussions has included ongoing installation of flashing signs at 100 schools over the next three years, promoting the 40 km/h speed limit and the introduction of 50 mobile and fixed speed cameras at school zones.
He has also successfully lobbied for the issuing of demerit points for parking offences in school zones and push nationally for reversing sensors to be fitted to new cars.
As a top priority, Ron advocates improved pedestrian crossings – promoting ‘Walk Safely to School Day’ with support for crossing supervisors and approaches to crossings to be made more visible. |
